BSL Level 4 Course

This course is a pathway towards becoming a qualified interpreter. The course is useful for those who want to make interpreting their profession, i.e. become a qualified interpreter. This qualification is necessary for people who want to work with deaf people, e.g. social workers, teachers of the Deaf, communicators, voluntary workers, workers within Deaf organisations, schools, etc.

 

Units

There are 3 units in this course. The student is required to pass all 3, after which a certificate of completion (signature qualification) is awarded.

  • Unit 1 (BSL420- Extended sign language linguistics): This unit involves learning in-depth the grammatical structure of BSL.

  • Unit 2 (BSL421- Understanding extended BSL in a range of work and social situations): This unit involves understanding a complex use of BSL in a wider range of work and social settings.

  • Unit 3 (BSL422- The use of extended BSL in a range of work and social situations): This unit involves the complex use of BSL in a wider range of work and social settings.

 

Assessments

Assessments are done by an assessor from Signature. Assessments take place during normal lesson times. Assessment fees are included in the fees.

Assessment for BSL level 4 will be presenting a portfolio for each of the units.

 

Your Progress

Completion of the BSL level 4 course paves way for the learner to enrol on the BSL Level 6.
